We have identified an apartment in Lavington, Nairobi. We are just about to fill in the notice of offer form where we will pay 10% deposit in escrow. What is the safest way to do this? The seller wants us to pay to their family’s lawyer. How secure is this ? In the event we identify something amiss during the process of due diligence, what guarantee do we have that we will get our deposit back. We would prefer a more neutral ground and I do not think that their lawyer is neutral and neither is ours. What other options are there ?
