Filing a case with Kenya police while being in Estonia
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am contacting you regarding filing a case with Law Enforcement in Kenya, and as I am located in Estonia (Europe), I appreciate any help or information you can provide in order to resolve the issue. I have contacted a lot of organizations since, in addition also the Law Society of Kenya on 16th of July unfortunately, I have received no reply since.
The ombudsman of Kenya advised me to contact Kenyan consular, the National Police and KE-CIRT team. KE-CIRT team told me that the only way for me to file a case is through the Law Enforcement, however, I had no luck contacting them. I am aware that Ms. Kadri Humal Ayal, the Honorary Consul of Estonia in Kenya, is trying to facilitate the investigation on my behalf, however, there has been no development in the last couple of month and it seems that she had not succeeded in facilitating the investigation. The Ministry of foreign affairs of Estonia has advised me to contact Law Society of Kenya. As I have received no response since, I am looking for opportunities to file a case.
I was scammed by a person from Kenya on 01.02.2024 – he fished out my card information and initiated transaction to Jumia. I have all the information needed for the case, including the full name of the scammer, all bank and order information etc. Jumia company was very supportive, providing all the information and indicated that they can provide further information (like scammer’s address) if asked by the police. KE-CIRT team also assured me that they have saved all the relevant information and will be ready to investigate further when the case is initiated.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to resolve this matter. I have all the details and screenshots from both banks (my bank and receiving bank, Jumia etc) saved.
